About Rachel

Hi, I am Rachel. I am originally from Chicago, although I have been in Portland since 2006 , so some my consider me a Portlander at this point. I'm a full time wedding photographer. My style is true color, clean and candid.

Photography has been my passion for as long as I can remember. Capturing fleeting moments of love, joy and laughter have always inspired me.  Being able to create a lasting memory, one that touch your soul and is shared for generations, is such a privilege, and why I will never tire of photographing weddings

I still get choked up during vows and teary-eyed during speeches.  Even after many seasons in the wedding industry I still find so much jou in being an intimate apart of peoples most joyous day.

I am so grateful for this amazing job and the people I get to meet.

I have a Bachelors of Arts degree in Photojournalism, which I received from one of my favorite places in the world, Ohio University in Athens, Ohio.

I packed up my car and moved to Oregon in 2006, from my hometown of Chicago. After more then decade of living in Portland I relocated just a few miles away to Corbett, Oregon.   I live and work in the gorgeous  Columbia River Gorge among 2 acres of Fir trees. It is a true dream come true.

I have a wonderful and loving husband who is a Spanish teacher and together we have three wonderful children. I feel beyond privileged for my amazing life and job.  I love being with people on their wedding day and watching all their dreams and love stories come true.

I would love to learn more about you and your love story.

I’d love to tell yours.

 I’ve been
telling stories all my life…

FAQ & INVESTMENT

01. What is it like to work with you?

From beginning to end, I want your experience with me to be as enjoyable and fun as possible. I love helping in anyway I can during the planning process. Whether it is a scheduling question or an opinion on colors, I am always here to help. The preplanning meeting, which we have one month before the wedding, is very helpful for both of us. I learn your vision, photography style and preference and we dial in a timeline and any photo list you may have.

On the day of your wedding my goal is to let you two be you and create something beautiful and emotional in all the chaos, nerves, and joy. I always arrive with a smile and I don’t make you pose awkwardly. Rather I wait for moments and prompt you with cues. I ask you to tell each other stories and get you talking and laughing. I direct you to amazing light and epic backdrop. Then I hide behind trees, capturing the authenticity of the day and all the love surrounding you. I still get teary eyed during vows and speeches and I’ve been known to bust out a dance move or two if the mood should strike. Mostly I aim to capture those fleeting moments that go unnoticed on your wedding day, the ones you end up cherishing forever.

02. What is a Fine Art collection?

All my clients receive a Fine Art collection. These are my favorite 50 images of the day. They tell your love story and will reflect the vision we discussed during your preplanning meeting. These images will be shared 7-10 days after the wedding day, so you have something immediate to share with your friends and family.

03. What is the difference between a Designer Album and a Wedding Book?

Designer Wedding Album:
My designer albums truly capture and tell the story of your wedding day. They are not your run of the mill one image per page album. A Designer Album is a custom in-house album. You choose the images and I weave them together to tell the story of your wedding day. All the images in the album are given extra attention and cleaned-up to look natural but flawless. The albums lay flat with no gutter and have smudge and waterproof thick pages. The design is printed directly on the the pages leaving a stunning and long-lasting product you will cherish forever. The blending of images together gives a romance and elegance that truly captures your love story. Every designer album comes with 15 spreads and/or 30 pages. It is a collaborative process and can be size 10x10 or 8x8. Getting together and sharing my albums in person is the best way to see their true beauty. Please let me know if you would like to set up a meeting. Your wedding day album is your ultimate keepsake and what you will look at and cherish for years to come. It is a priceless memory and uniquely yours.

Wedding Book:
The wedding book is a collection of 50 images from the Fine Art collection that tells the story of your wedding day. It is printed on a 8x10 wedding book with a linen cover on high quality gloss paper. The book highlights my favorite moments from the day and are a wonderful keepsake to go along with your hourly coverage.

4. When will we receive our the images?

You receive your Fine Art collection online 7-10 days after your wedding. The final wedding edit and online gallery will be shared 6-8 weeks after your wedding date.

5. We’re awkward in front of the camera, what should we do?

I think 90% of everyone I meet feels this way, you are not alone. I always tell people it is so surprising how on the actual day of, when you are with your partner, and everyone you know and love is in one place, how oddly at ease you will feel. This being said, I always give you cues and and capture those in between moments that are happening naturally.

6. How many images do we receive in the final edit?

It is a minimum of 100 images per hour of coverage. Most people end up with 7 to 8 hours of coverage and end up with a gallery of 800-900 images. Of course I shoot a lot more the day of, like 3000-6000 frames but I edit it down to the best of the best.

7. How do you set up payment?

Most clients do a three payment plan with 25% of your package due upon signing (this acts as your security deposit). The second payment is for 50% and the final 25% is due one month before the wedding day or at your preplanning meeting.

*Always know you can always add hours onto any package at the preplanning meeting for $150 an hour.

8. What if we want to create our own Package?

Every wedding, every client, and every love story is different. I love creating custom packages to fit whatever your needs are. Drop me a line, I would love to hear from you.
